Sia is a decentralized cloud storage platform that enables individuals to rent their storage space to people who need disk space to upload their files to the Sia blockchain. People must pay for storage in SiaCoin
Visit the Sia website and click on Download on the top of the menu. Select your version of operating system from Windows, Linux, or MacOS. When the download is complete, you must unzip the folder and execute the Sia UI file. Enable firewall if needed.
There are 5 tabs that you can see once the Sia UI is launched. Since this is related to Sia storage, you must select files and wallets. Files include an interface for uploading, downloading, and interacting with files that are stored on the network. You can manage your wallet too. You can see a bar on right-hand top that says Sia is synchronizing with the blockchain
Create a Sia wallet by clicking on the Wallet tab. Click on “create new wallet”. Store your Seed and Password in some secure place. It is required if you intend to restore the wallet on to another device. Copy and paste the Seed and Password to unlock the wallet.
Next, you must get some SiaCoins. You must change your physical currency for bitcoins
and then exchange them for SiaCoins. Transfer the SiaCoins to your wallet. Go to the “receive SiaCoin” option in the menu of your wallet. It opens a dialog box with your wallet address.
You can start storing your files. Click on “Create Allowance” which enables you to upload, download, and store files on the blockchain network. Choose the SiaCoins you wish to purchase and click accept.
The contracts are formed with hosts on the network. It takes about 45 minutes. You can start uploading your files to the Sia storage. You must keep renewing your store allowance or your files can be deleted by the host.
